Information Regarding Student Email |

UMaine is reminding all students of the
critical importance of regularly accessing email from
both FirstClass and University of Maine System (@maine.edu)
accounts. To simplify the process, it is strongly
recommended that students forward all @maine.edu email
to FirstClass.
A new Web page describes the reasons why this is so
important and provides instructions for how to
quickly and easily assure that email is forwarded in
this way. |

Yale Professor To Give UMaine Talk
Monday |

Yale University history professor Patrick
Corhs will discuss "U.S. Aspirations for a 'New World
Order' in the Era of the Two World Wars," Monday Dec. 8
at 3:10 p.m. in Soderberg Auditorium. Corhs wrote "The
Unfinished Peace After World War I: America, Britain and
the Stabilisation of Europe, 1919-1932." His talk is
sponsored by the UMaine history department and the
School of Policy and International Affairs. |

Maine Tree Club Offers Outings and Education |

Maine citizens and visitors can learn more
about one of the state's greatest resources by joining
the Maine Tree Club, an educational project designed for
people of all ages to learn about trees. University of
Maine Cooperative Extension, the Maine Forest Service
and the Pine Tree State Arboretum coordinate the
program. The annual registration fee for the Maine Tree
Club is $20 per person, $30 per couple, $35 per family
and $65 per group of up to 15. A limited number of Maine
Tree Club scholarships are available for those in need.
There is no deadline for registration. Request a free
informational brochure by calling University of Maine
Cooperative Extension at 800-287-1471 or e-mailing
lelwell@umext.maine.edu.

BDN Report On Task Force Meeting |

Thursday's Bangor Daily News includes a story
about Wednesday's UMaine meeting of the Atlantica
BioEnergy Task Force R&D forum. UMaine is one of 22
partners in the task force made up of representatives
from Maine, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. The story
includes comments from Prof. Hemant Pendse, managing
director of UMaine's Forest Bioproducts Research
Initiative. |

of UMaine's Advance Engineered Wood Composites Center,

front-page story on offshore wind power.

- an announcement that Prof. Ivan Fernandez has been
selected as Maine Professor of the Year by the Carnegie
Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the
Council for the Advancement and Support of Education
- a news release announcing that Prof. Elizabeth Depoy
has received the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award from
